Aethiomastacembelus elipsifer "Tanganyikan Leopard Eel"
A. elipsifer is a great addition to any Rift Lake aquarium. They are beautifully marked, and can get up to 14".
They are very active and remain visible at almost all times and do not remain hidden like the Asian eels. They are very curious and active for an eel.
They enjoy caves and will often spend most of the daylight hours in a half-in, half out position that appears comical to the aquarist.
It endemic to Lake Tanganyika and one of the few true eels native to the Rift Lakes.
